Man Accidentally Shoots Friend While Hunting for Bigfoot

Three people were arrested yesterday after Omar Pineda accidentally shot his buddy during a hunt for the mythical Bigfoot in Rogers County, Okla.

Omar Pineda thought he heard something that sounded like "barking," when he turned around and allegedly shot his unidentified friend by accident.

While the wounded man was taken to a local hospital, Pineda was arrested for reckless conduct with a firearm and obstructing an officer, reports

Pineda's father-in-law Perry James was also arrested after he allegedly tossed Pineda's gun into a nearby lake because James is a convicted felon and didn't want the gun on his property.

James was charged for being a felon in possession of a firearm and destruction of evidence.

Also arrested was Omar's wife Lacey for obstructing an officer because she allegedly told law enforcement that someone else had shot at her husband and his friend.

"When we asked them what they were doing in the woods, they said, 'Well we were hunting Sasquatch,'" Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton told Tulsa World. "Eventually the story changed that they didn't get shot at, it was that one of the men got scared and fired the handgun and struck his buddy. Basically what it comes down to is if they had just explained the situation truthfully, none of this needed to happen."
