Louisiana High School Reunion 'After Party' Invites "White Graduates Only"

Graduates of St. Martinville, Louisiana's Senior High School Class of 1973 have been holding racially segregated class reunions for decades, reports KATC-TV (video below).

This year, graduates sent out a letter announcing that the reunion would be non-segregated, but are planning an after party for "white graduates only."

Michael Kreamer, principal of the high school, told KATC-TV: "I'm just a little disappointed that something like this comes up. I don't think that it looks good for the school, but again as I said it has nothing to do with St. Martinville Senior High. So I hope people don't take that the wrong way."

According to the letter, the September reunion reception will be followed by the homecoming football game, which "all graduates are welcome to attend."

However, after the football game, "white graduates only" have been invited to a classmate's home.

Liza Chance, one of the organizers of the reunion, told KATC-TV: "This is just a start it's a beginning, it needs to go forward. I don't understand why this went the way it did."
