The Westboro Baptist Church was unable to protest the funeral of “Star Trek” actor Leonard Nimoy because they couldn't find where it was being held.
The death of Nimoy, a legendary actor known mostly for his iconic role as Spock in the classic “Star Trek” franchise, affected many people last week, but the members of the Westboro Baptist Church apparently decided that they wanted picket his funeral. While Nimoy was a more quiet and low-key public figure, the WBC made the announcement that they were planning to make his funeral a spectacle.
Now, the group of protesters has taken to Twitter to announce that they were unable to picket the late actor’s funeral because they couldn’t figure out the location. They also made a reference to Nimoy’s co-star William Shatner, who had previously announced that he couldn’t make it to the funeral due to a charity ball.
“Leonard Nimoy's funeral is today, but nobody is sharing WHERE,” the group tweeted. “So Westboro AND @WilliamShatner can't attend.”
The folks at Westboro Baptist Church are known for protesting the funerals of celebrities, fallen soldiers, and other public figures and holding up signs that say, “God Hates Fags” and “Thank God for 9/11.” It’s not entirely clear why the group wanted to protest Nimoy’s funeral in the first place.
