Gun violence in Chicago continued over the weekend, leaving at least six people dead and 27 others wounded. The most recent homicide occurred around 4:35 a.m. Sunday when a 24-year-old man with gang affiliations was fatally shot in the chest and pronounced dead at Mount Sinai hospital.
During a separate incident on Saturday, a 19-year-old man was killed just before midnight. The teen was shot while he was riding his bike. He was known to have gang affiliations.
On Friday night, two people were shot and another was pistol-whipped by a co-worker following an argument about beer, NBC Chicago reported. One of the people who were shot passed away. No one is in custody for the shooting at this time.
On Sunday morning, a 22-year-old man was shot in the chest while he was in the process of a narcotics transaction. Police recovered narcotics at the scene and the man is in stable condition at an area hospital.
The first shooting of the weekend took place when a 34-year-old man was shot in the buttocks. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and is listed in stable condition.
