Details are emerging from New York Giants Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor's alleged rape of a minor. Ramapo Police Commissioner Christopher St. Lawrence told reporters that police found a used condom in the football legend's hotel room.

Taylor was arrested early Thursday morning on charges of third-degree rape of a 16-year-old girl and patronizing a prostitute.

Taylor’s attorney Arthur Aidada refuted those charges:

“Lawrence Taylor didn’t have consensual sex with anyone last night. He didn’t have sex with anyone. Mr. Taylor is going to fight each and every one of these charges”

While Taylor has vehemently denied having sex with anyone during the night in question, evidence gathered by the Ramapo police department included a used condom.

The 16-year old victim was taken to a hospital shortly after police arrived. After a rape examination was done, it was concluded that Taylor did not physically assault or abuse the girl in any way. All of her injuries came from a prior altercation.

A third-degree rape charge in the state of New York carries a maximum prison sentence of four years. Solicitation of a prostitute is a misdemeanor that could carry a sentence of up to one year in prison.

As far as Taylor possibly not knowing the age of the victim, Ramapo Police Chief Peter Brower said: “Ignorance is not an excuse to an individual’s age.”

Because a 16-year-old girl is a minor, even if she consented to sexual intercourse with Taylor, he would still be guilty of third-degree rape.

Taylor was released late Thursday after posting a $75,000 bond.
