A roadside advertisement for a Las Vegas strip club is turning a lot of heads, and not for the reason one might think.
“It fits in with Vegas,” said Rick Marzullo, manager of the Little Darlings strip club in Las Vegas, Nevada. Marzullo spoke to Fox 5 about a recent advertising campaign launched by his business.
Emblazoned on a digital marquee outside of their club, one of the new messages posted reads, “Now auditioning the class of 2015,” followed by another saying “Pay your way through college.”
“We all know the economy isn’t that great,” the manager said, “it’s hard to find jobs sometimes. This is an open door for young women 18 years old and up to come and make some good money.”
According to Marzullo, young women can make as much as $1,000 a night while working at his club, the Huffington Post reports.
“Hundreds [of women] that are either in college or that have worked their way through college [strip or have stripped],” Marzullo said, “and like I said, without one penny of debt, not having to take out student loans, not having to borrow money from family or friends or taking out loans from banks.”
Though the sign may seem funny to some, others are not laughing.
“It’s not a shock to me that people just kind of go along with the idea,” said Las Vegas resident Kayla Garninger, who claims that the signs sends a harmful message to women.
“You could completely change the route of a woman’s life,” she told Fox 5, “of a woman who’s trying to progress and go to college and make something of herself. I don’t agree with it at all.”
There are those such as Las Vegas resident Julian Loiza who do not mind they strip club’s efforts though.
“They are consenting adults,” Loiza said. “I feel if that’s what they want to do, then they have a right to.”
