The beautiful thing about the American justice system is that everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
That being said – the court of public opinion is a lot different than the court of law. And in the court of public opinion, if you get your mugshot taken in a "I <3 CRYSTAL METH" shirt, the idea of "innocent until proven guilty" becomes a little tougher to sell.
On Tuesday, the Laurel County Sheriff's Department in London, Kentucky, arrested two people who were allegedly in possession of crystal meth. According to WKYT, Deborah Asher, 37, and Richard Rice, 57, were charged with “trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree and possession of methamphetamine.”
A drug investigation reportedly led local police straight to the accused. A court date has yet to be determined.
For obvious reasons, as soon as the Sheriff’s Department posted these images to Facebook, they immediately went viral.
The lesson here is first to obviously not get arrested for allegedly pushing crystal meth. But more importantly, if you do ever get arrested for it, make sure it’s not on the day you wore a "I <3 CRYSTAL METH" shirt.
