An unidentified woman was shot by her 2-year-old son over Mother's Day weekend.
The shooting happened at about 9:30 p.m. on May 9 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said three people were in the home during the shooting. The mother was taken to a local hospital and is expected survive. The child was not injured, notes WAVE.
RawStory.com reports that it's not clear how the child got his hands on the firearm, but police are investigating.
FreakOutNation.com noted last week that the NRA gave away a Smith & Wesson handgun for Mother's Day. The weapon resembled a handgun that another toddler used to fatally shoot his mom in Idaho in December 2014.
