While in Corpus Christi, Texas, to meet with victims of Hurricane Harvey, First Lady Melania Trump and Second Lady Karen Pence stopped for lunch at Whataburger and treated the press to fries before jetting back to Washington, D.C.
Stephanie Grisham, the first lady's communications director, tweeted a photo of the two women ordering at the fast-food restaurant.
"On our way out of town, [Melania Trump] & [Karen Pence] decided to stop in to [Whataburger] for some lunch!" wrote Grisham. "The American chain opened its 1st restaurant in Corpus Christi, TX in 1950!"
Perhaps feeling sorry for members of the press pool, who were not allowed to leave their van during the stop, Melania Trump and Karen Pence treated the press to fries.
"[Melania Trump] and [Karen Pence] just made a surprise stop for lunch at Corpus Christi institution [Whataburger]. We here in the press van, however, are burgerless," tweeted CNN reporter Kate Bennett.
Minutes later Bennett tweeted again: "...yes! fries for the press van tho."
Other grateful members of the press pool posed for pictures with their fries, tagging the first and second lady in their posts.
"Y'all [Melania Trump] [Karen Pence] bought [us] [Whataburger] #melaniaInTX," tweeted Julie Garcia, a reporter for Texas newspaper the Caller Times.
The Whataburger visit came at the end of a day spent meeting with hurricane victims and observing the ongoing relief effort.
The packed schedule included a meeting with first responders, a meeting with a family that lost its house in the hurricane, and a visit to the family's temporary house built by FEMA, according to ABC News.
"As we approach Christmas this holiday season, your family is an example of what it means to have hope and recognize your blessings," the first lady said, according to KZTV. "You serve as a reminder to all of us that the best gifts are those of family and friends, love and kindness."
The pair also visited an elementary school and a food bank, where they helped pack donation boxes, according to a tweet from Grisham.
The pair were joined by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's wife Cecilia and Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush.
"Looks like [Melania Trump] is Texas savvy," tweeted Gov. Abbott. "She & Karen Pence dined at [Whataburger] today with my wife the First Lady of Texas. They are here for ongoing help for #HurricaneHarvey."
Whataburger's official Twitter account commemorated the group's visit, tweeting: "Hope it was a great meal! Thanks for stopping by."
