Just a few days after moving out of the White House, former first lady Michelle Obama was caught on camera boarding British billionaire Richard Branson's private plane and heading for vacation on his private island.
Michelle and former President Barack Obama spent the weekend with friends near Palm Springs, California, before heading off to Branson's private Caribbean retreat, Necker Island. The Obamas were reportedly tired of the rain in Palm Springs, TMZ reported, and left the area after three days.
Michelle was photographed boarding Branson's plane, which was waiting for her on the tarmac. The plane, a luxury jet called the Galactic Girl, has a maximum altitude of 36,000 feet, the Daily Mail reports.
Branson took to Instagram the day of President Donald Trump's inauguration to post a photo of himself and Barack together, along with a caption that read, "Thank You Obama."
The weather in the Palms Springs area was not ideal during the Obamas' stay in the area -- so bad, their plane needed to be diverted to an air force base nearly 50 miles away. The area was also under a winter storm warning at the time. Barack spent his time exercising at the Thunderbird Country Club gym and playing golf.
"I feel badly for the Obamas. I live near Palm Springs, and the weather has been horrible all during their brief stay. Hope they'll give it another try. They are great," one TMZ reader wrote of the weather.
The former first family left for vacation after Trump's inauguration, but will live in D.C. for the next few years.
