Actor Jamie Foxx Saves Man From Burning Car Outside California Home

Hollywood star Jamie Foxx reportedly intervened to prevent the death of a driver involved in a car wreck outside his house on Jan. 18.

The vehicle overturned after skidding on wet roads at about 8:30 p.m., TMZ reported. The Oscar-winner heard the wreck and rushed outside to help.

“Jamie didn’t hesitate,” a member of Foxx's team told ABC News. "He jumped out and ran to the car."

Foxx reportedly unbuckled the male driver and then dragged him to safety about 30 feet away.

Foxx called 911 before helping the man. Firefighters and police arrived shortly afterwards.

The man suffered burns and was taken to a hospital. He was later arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a statement released by police.

The statement confirmed that a 32-year-old man was driving his truck when he struck a drainage ditch, causing the vehicle to flip over several times and then burst into flames.

“Two witnesses that were near the collision scene ran to the burning, overturned truck in an attempt to free the driver,” the police statement read, according to ABC News. “One of the witnesses retrieved a rescue tool from his vehicle allowing the two citizens to break the window, cut the seat belt, and extricate the driver.”

Foxx and the other witness were not referred to by name in the statement.

The statement added that the man suffered major head, neck and chest injuries.

Foxx’s life-saving actions came just days after he appeared at the Golden Globes ceremony to present the award for best movie soundtrack. He made headlines for mocking Steve Harvey, who made a major blunder at the 2015 Miss Universe contest by announcing the wrong winner.

“And the winner is … 'Straight Outta Compton,'” Foxx said on stage, according to Us Weekly, even though the film wasn’t nominated in that category. “I’m sorry folks, I made a mistake. It’s right here on the card. I take full responsibility. It was right here on the card. I apologize to everyone in Compton. I apologize to Ice Cube.”
