Ivanka Trump praised Lady Gaga's performance at the Super Bowl halftime show, despite the singer's implicit criticism of President Donald Trump.
Lady Gaga opened her 13-minute performance with a cover of Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Our Land," which has recently been co-opted by opponents of Trump's controversial travel ban.
Many observers interpreted this as a repudiation of the Trump administration. Nevertheless, Ivanka posted on Twitter that she was impressed by Gaga' halftime show.
"Incredible performance by [Lady Gaga]," she wrote, according to Metro.
Ivanka's tweet has since received over 30,000 likes and has been retweeted more than 5,000 times.
Gaga, who campaigned for Hillary Clinton in the run-up to the election, had been coy about whether she planned to use her performance at the Super Bowl to make a political statement.
"Well, I don’t know if I will succeed in unifying America," she said, according to Metro. "You’ll have to ask America when it’s over. But the only statements that I’ll be making during the halftime show are the ones that I’ve been consistently making throughout my career."
"I believe in a passion for inclusion," the pop star continued. "I believe in the spirit of equality, and the spirit of this country as one of love and compassion and kindness. So my performance will have both those philosophies."
President Trump did not comment on Gaga's performance. He did, however, congratulate the Patriots on their victory via Twitter.
"What an amazing comeback and win by the Patriots," he wrote. "Tom Brady, Bob Kraft and Coach B are total winners. Wow!"
