Officials arrested a woman at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York after she tried to smuggle cocaine into the U.S. by hiding it in her vagina on Feb. 21.
Shekira Thompson, 24, tried concealing $10,000 worth of cocaine in her private area while returning from a trip to Jamaica, the New York Daily News reports.
After officials pulled her into a search room, the woman admitted she hid a half pound of the drug in the unusual location.
"This seizure is just another example of our CBP officers being ever vigilant in protecting the United States from the distribution of these illicit drugs," Robert E. Perez, director of U.S. Customs and Border Protection's New York Field Operations, said.
The woman has been charged with drug smuggling and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
This is not the first time law enforcement uncovered a woman hiding something illegal inside of her vagina.
After authorities arrested a Texas woman in September 2015, they found a fully loaded, snub-nosed handgun inside of her private area, the New York Post reports.
Ashley Castaneda, 31, was initially pulled over for a traffic violation before police discovered methamphetamine in her car.
Authorities did not discover the gun until until after they finished arresting her. While driving the woman to jail, Castaneda revealed to the officers she had a gun inside of her area for fear it would go off.
“Officers immediately stopped and a female officer searched Castaneda discovering she had in fact placed a loaded Smith and Wesson pistol inside her body cavity,” police in Waco, Texas, said.
“The weapon had a round chambered and a full magazine of bullets,” they added.
Sergeant Patrick Swanton said, “It is conceivable that the gun could have gone off inside our suspect and that would have been deadly because of the proximity to internal organs.”
She was charged with violating Texas' concealed firearms laws and methamphetamine possession.
