Chuck E. Cheese advertises itself as a place “where a kid can be a kid,” but it was the adults who acted like children at a Chuck E. Cheese's in Manchester, Connecticut, on Feb. 21 (video below).
Manchester police told WVIT that the restaurant was the scene of an all-out brawl, but it started when two women bumped into each other. Although a 1-year-old was knocked down and a 4-year-old was treated for bruises and scratches, no one else was injured.
Capt. Chris Davis told the Hartford Courant 12 to 15 people were involved in the fight, which started near an indoor carousel, but no one was arrested because all of those involved fled before police arrived.
Video of the fight came from a cellphone camera, so it’s difficult to pinpoint identifying features. "It just looked like a lot of commotion, pushing and shoving. I don't know what to make of it," Davis said.
The fight broke out while a family was celebrating a child’s birthday party, WTIC reported. It’s unclear if one of the children who was injured was the celebrating a birthday at the time.
Chcuk E. Cheese said in a statement to WVIT that its staff is cooperating with the authorities:
"We are regretful of the situation. Our cast immediately called the authorities once the altercation went from verbal to physical. We are working closely with the authorities to provide our surveillance footage. The safety of our guests and cast members is our number one priority. We are sorry this happened. We are usually a place for food and fun and family and we work hard to provide a positive, wholesome atmosphere for guests.”
