Intruder Breaks Into Home, Don't Realize Mom Of 3 Has Surprise Ready And Waiting For Him

A Washington mom reportedly shot an intruder early Thursday morning while her husband and three children slept peacefully in their beds, unaware of the dangerous situation taking place right outside of their bedrooms.

The 33-year-old woman, who is from Edmonds, reportedly woke up at around 3:15 a.m. when she heard someone banging on the front door of the family’s home. Believing she knew the person outside, the mom opened the door – and was shocked to find a 22-year-old stranger whom she says tried to get past her into the house, reports Inquisitr.

The mom – who has three kids ages 14, 10 and 5 – reportedly called 911 before grabbing her gun and shooting the man in the stomach.

“There were the kids in the house. She was scared, and so she was doing what she could to protect her family,” said Edmonds Police Department Sgt. Bob Barker.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he is being treated but is expected to be okay, reports the New York Daily News.

Police reportedly believe the same suspect may have broken into another house in the neighborhood before attempting to enter the mom’s home. They say they smelled alcohol on the suspect’s breath when they arrived at the scene.

The woman is not expected to be charged with a crime.
