Indiana Pizza Restaurant Brags About Anti-Gay Policy (Video)

The owners of Memories Pizza in Walkerton, Indiana, recently said they support the state's controversial "religious freedom" law because they would not serve pizza for a gay wedding.

The O'Connor family has owned Memories Pizza for nine years.

"If a gay couple was to come in, like say we wanted, they wanted us to provide them pizzas for a wedding, we would have to say, 'No,'” Crystal O'Connor told ABC 57 (video below).

“We are a Christian establishment,” O'Connor added. “We're not discriminating against anyone, it's just that's our belief and everybody has the right to believe in anything."

While not providing pizzas for a gay wedding is discrimination, it is also legal under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence signed into law on March 26.

“I do not think it is targeting gays. I don't think it's discrimination,” O'Connor claimed. “It's supposed to help people that have a religious belief.”

Kevin O'Connor, the family patriarch, added, "That's a lifestyle that you choose. I choose to be heterosexual. They choose to be homosexual. Why should I be beat over the head because they choose that lifestyle?" notes that negative reviews are being posted on the pizza restaurant's Yelp page:

"Jesus Christ did not discriminate when he fed the masses with the loaves and fishes. And on other numerous occasions when dined with people of questionable moral character. Who are we to judge others?"

"Thank God I don't live in the backward, repressive, bigoted state of Indiana. And if I ever visit (which will be never) I certainly would not eat here. What do you have Gaydar installed at the door? Did you ever consider you may be serving closeted homosexuals?!! Haha"

"This is a transparent attempt to fly the Christian martyr 'mean Gays are calling us bigots' flag in the hopes that other mouth-breathers in the area will rally to them and their crappy pizza the way Southerners rallied to Chick Fil-A. Deny them the oxygen of your outrage, and their uninspired fare will put them out of business in due course."
