A Shelbyville, Indiana, couple is facing preliminary felony charges after allegedly molesting a 3-year-old boy, police said Wednesday.
Chelsea E. Wainscott, 23, and Logan Lockridge, 26, were arrested Wednesday by the Shelbyville Police Department after a 3-year-old boy told a family member that the two adults had inappropriately touched him, according to Michael Turner, the Department spokesman.
Turner add that the alleged abuse is believed to have occurred this year on at least two separate occasions between April 1 and May 4, according to The Indianapolis Star.
Wainscott is described as a relative of the young boy by WTTV News, but the nature of the relationship has not been specified by authorities.
“An interview was conducted with Wainscott by the investigation division,” Turner said in his statement. “Lockridge took a polygraph test, in which he failed the question about touching the juvenile inappropriately.”
Police claim that, upon failing the polygraph, Lockridge told investigators that “both he and Wainscott touched the juvenile.”
Lockridge admitted to touching the boy on two separate occasions and said there may have been a third but that he could not remember, police said.
Wainscott and Lockridge have been charged with felony child molesting and felony neglect of a dependent, according to WTHR News.
They were last reported to still be in custody in the Shelby County Jail.
