Some people with wealth like to flaunt it, while others prefer to live a life that looks relatively modest to the outside world. Indian businessman Pankaj Parakh stands firmly in the "flaunt it" category.

Parakh, who made his fortune in the textile business, just had a solid gold shirt commissioned for his 45th birthday. The garment cost over $210,000, according to the New York Daily News.

Parakh said he had the shirt made so he would have something “special” to wear on his birthday.

“I wanted to wear something special when I say my thanks for my success at a thanksgiving visit to the Siddhivinayak Temple of the Hindu elephant god in Mumbai,” he said.

The shirt, which weighs roughly eight pounds, lands Parakh quite a bit of attention in public, so he is constantly flanked by several security guards to ward off potential thieves. After all, his shirt isn’t the only flashy thing he wears out.

“I never go out with less than two to three kilos of gold jewelry,” he said.

Parakh said he’s had a lifetime obsession with gold, and admits he donned even more of the precious metal than his wife on their wedding day.

“I have always been fascinated with gold since I was five years old and studying in school,” he said. “And over the years that interest has become a real passion. So it was logical that I would want to make my 45th birthday a golden affair. In fact, even on my wedding 23 years ago a lot of people said it was embarrassing that I was wearing more gold than my bride, but I just love the Royal metal.”

According to MailOnline, the $210,000+ the shirt cost is just a fraction of what Parakh plans to spend on his birthday party.
