An Oklahoma IHOP waitress reportedly received a hurtful message instead of a tip.

According to KFOR, Taylor Stewart had been working at the IHOP in Enid, Oklahoma, for seven months when the incident allegedly occurred on June 27.

"I'm a people person and that's why I have this job because I love people," Stewart told the news station. " ... I like to serve them and, you know, make them happy."

It was toward the end of a double shift when she waited on a man and three kids.

"I messed up one of the things on the order," she said. "So, I mean I fixed that. No problem, and he was just kind of being rude to me the whole time. I told him I was sorry about the service."

After eating, Stewart said the man and his kids stormed out the door.

“I was like, 'Have a good night sir, you know, come back and see us,'  and he didn't say anything,” Stewart said.

When she went to clean the table, Stewart said she found a big mess in addition to the paid check, sans tip.

"When I went to pick up the check, I read it and I thought it said 'gray is wrong,'" Stewart said, "and I went and showed my girlfriend, and she was like, 'what?' And she said it said `gay is wrong.' I was just shocked. I was more shocked than hurt, but I mean it did hurt.”

This is not the first incident of LGBT discrimination in the state of Oklahoma. In March 2015, an Edmond, Oklahoma, man said the state tax commission denied him a vanity license plate in support of the LGBT community, KXAN reported. The requested plate was supposed to read:  LGBTALY.

Stewart said she hopes people will consider the feelings of others before they speak, KFOR reports.

"If you don't like it, if you don't agree with it, that's fine," Stewart said. "That's your own opinion, but I mean just let people be who they are and don't say hurtful things."

She said she did not recognize the man and neither did any of the other employees working that night. KFOR reportedly attempted to speak to the customer but could not make out the name signed on the receipt.
