Malia Obama, the eldest daughter of former President Barack Obama, is reportedly dating a student who attended one of England's top schools.
Malia Obama, 19, was seen in photos kissing Rory Farquharson at the Harvard/Yale football game, Daily Mail reported.
Farquharson, referred to by the Mail as Malia's "boyfriend," was head boy at Rugby School, one of Britain's best-known public schools. While there, he played rugby, a sport which takes its name from the school, and also competed in golf.
A source from the school told the Mail that Farquharson was "quite a catch."
"He was very popular," the source added.
The Mail noted that Farquharson is the son of an investment banker and that, according to his Twitter page, he is keen to follow his father into the banking business.
In a letter addressed to himself reported by the Daily Telegraph, Farquharson described himself as a "lanky over-confident public school boy" with a "floppy mop."
He criticized himself for trying too hard to prove to his friends what "a lad" he was, and admitted that he had "failed miserably."
"You've slipped on a pair of your dad's Ray Bans (he's not best pleased when he finds out) and smugly informed your mum that you're going to Ollie's house - in fact you've sneaked off to London with some mates," Farquharson wrote in the letter, referring to a picture of himself published with it in the school magazine. "And for goodness' sake, get a haircut. Despite what you think, your floppy mop isn't attracting the girls."
Farquharson has connections with the British royal family; his second cousin, Andrew Farquharson, worked as a courtier to Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles. Sir Donald Farquharson, Rory Farquharson's great uncle, was one of Britain's top judges.
Residents of Martlesham, Farquharson's home village, wished him well and hoped for a famous visit.
"I say good luck to him, and good on him," one neighbor told the Telegraph.
"Everyone is given a warm welcome here -- it'd be lovely if the Obamas came to visit," added a Martlesham barmaid.
After taking a gap year, Malia Obama began her studies at Harvard in the fall of 2017. The photos of her at the game with Farquharson showed her smoking a cigarette.
In 2016, Barack Obama said that he was "pretty relaxed" about the fact that Malia and Sasha, his second oldest daughter, had both started dating.
"They've had Secret Service. There's only so much these guys can do," Barack Obama joked about the security provided to his daughters, according to the Mail.
