An Oregon teacher has been arrested after being accused of having sexual relations with a 15-year-old student.
Andrea Baber, 29, was taken into police custody on Dec. 15, The News-Review reported. She was caught in bed with a 15-year-old student by her husband on Dec. 5.
The teenager's father had received an anonymous email asking whether he knew his son was having a sexual relationship with Baber. The email included several photos of Baber in bed with the teen, according to court documents.
The boy's father then alerted police. Lt. Chris Merrifield of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said the relationship between Baber and the teenage boy began in 2016, and continued on a "regular basis," Oregon Live reported.
The teen told police his relationship with Baber began with flirting at school. He said they started going to the movies together, where they would kiss. Their relationship eventually escalated to one of a sexual nature.
Baber and the teen had sex about once or twice each week at the teacher's home, according to the affidavit, reports The Register-Guard. The teen also told police the teacher would supply him with alcohol and marijuana.
Law enforcement officials later learned that Baber's husband had filed a report with Child Protective Services after catching his wife in bed with the teenage boy in their home. They were unclothed at the time, according to the affidavit.
Baber's husband also told the agency that he found topless photos of his wife that were sent to the 15-year-old through text message.
Baber, who worked at Logos Christian Academy as a Language, Literature, Speech Communication and Writing teacher, is now facing charges of third-degree sodomy, third-degree rape, online sexual corruption of a child, unlawful delivery of marijuana to a person under 18 years of age and contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor.
The teacher was being held on a bond of more than $456,000 at Douglas County Jail. She has since been released. It is unknown at this time if Baber has entered a plea on the charges against her. She will appear in court again on March 18.
Baber is still on the school's online staff page. The website states that she lives with her husband, a dog and a cat.
"Andrea has always felt called to work with youth and is very excited that God opened the door for her to be part of the Logos team," the website states.
