Hundreds Of Moore Residents Chase Westboro Baptist Church Out Of Town (Video)

Westboro Baptist Church protestors left Moore, Okla., in a hurry on Sunday after residents didn’t take kindly to the group’s claims that God sent the 2013 F5 tornado, which killed 24 people, to punish the town.

The church picketed in front of Central Junior High for only a few minutes before counter-protestors sent them packing. Motorcycles cruised up and down Broadway, while nearly 2,000 Moore residents gathered in the rain on the east side of the street.

They held signs that read, “Thank God Fred’s Dead,” and, “WBC Wrecking Crew.”

Carrying its usual “God Hates Fags” signs, WBC had a permit for 200 protestors, but only 30 showed on Sunday.

They demonstrated for 10 minutes before Moore residents began crossing the road, and police escorted the fleeing WBC members to their vehicles.

“They shagged tail, got in them cars and was leaving in a hurry,” Dan Eccles told KFOR. “Oh yeah, they was gone!”

“I thought it was hilarious,” said Tina Johnson. “I mean I really did. We sat there and laughed the whole time. They were running, yeah.”

This was WBC’s fourth protest in Moore. The last time, the church picketed a high school student’s funeral.

“We’re still healing from this, so they don’t need to be here,” Westmoore High School senior Sierra Sampson said last week.
