Following a landslide in Colombia, hundreds of people flocked to the San Francisco area of Putumayo, Colombia, to witness what many claimed to be the image of Christ revealed on a hillside.
The discovery, made Saturday, prompted believers to visit the hillside and see the "miraculous" image for themselves. According to reports, so many people visited the area that police had to be called in for crowd control, and local landowners have begun to cash in by charging admission for those who wish to see the apparition.
"If you believe in Jesus, you will see your image," Ximena Rosero Arango said. The apparent image of Jesus Christ began to make the rounds on social media soon after it was discovered, though not everyone sees the supernatural face.
"Congratulations to those who can see the face of Jesus in landslide in Putumayo," Twitter user Magui said. "I just see a mountain of earth surrounded by trees."
The image of Christ has appeared to people on many different items and structures for years, including tree stumps, bread, drainpipes and frying pans.
U.K. woman Sarah Crane even claimed to discover the face of Jesus on a crumpled sock.
"I'd left the washing out to dry overnight - and it had probably been sitting there a bit too long when I noticed the face in the sock," she said. "I called my boyfriend over straight away - we could both clearly see the face of Jesus in the sock. There is a straight-on face, and a side profile too - we couldn't believe it."
