A Hong Kong billionaire who offered nearly $65 million to any man who could change his daughter’s sexual orientation has now doubled the offer.
Cecil Chao has upped the reward to approximately $130 million after 20,000 eligible bachelors were unsuccessful in convincing his daughter Gigi to marry any of them, the Daily Mail reports.
The 77-year-old shipping magnate and property developer insists that Gigi, 34, is “still single” even though she married her longtime partner Sean Eav two years ago.
In January 2013, Chao told The Financial Times that the offer still stood and “anyone who comes along to pursue Gigi, we will give them a moderately deluxe life.” He added, "I would not force her to marry a man. But obviously I would, from my point of view, prefer her to be married and to have grandchildren.”
“I don’t think my dad’s offering of any amount of money would be able to attract a man I would find attractive," Gigi Chao told the Malaysian newspaper Nanyang Siang Pau. “I would be happy to befriend any man willing to donate huge amounts of money to my charity Faith in Love, provided they don't mind that I already have a wife. Third and lastly, thank you Daddy, I love you too.”
According to The Independent, Gigi Chao is an executive director of luxury property development company Cheuk Nang, which has projects in Hong Kong, China, Macau and Malaysia. She is considered as an activist to the LGBT community and has close ties with Big Love Alliance, a gay rights group that lobbies the government to pass anti-discrimination laws.
