Homeless Man Arrested During Homelessness Awareness Week (Video)

Earlier this month, 90-year-old Arnold Abbot was arrested by police in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for feeding homeless people.

Ray Cox, a homeless man, was arrested at a Fort Lauderdale City Commission meeting on Tuesday (video below).

Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler repeatedly told Cox to "step outside." In response, Cox asked why he was being removed by the police.

According to the Sun Sentinel, Cox had an outstanding warrant for allegedly urinating in public. He was additionally charged with disorderly conduct for interrupting the commission's meeting.

Cox has reportedly spoken before the commission numerous times on behalf of homeless people. noted that Cox was escorted out of the city chambers right before the commission voted for a proclamation to declare National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in Fort Lauderdale.

If Cox had not interrupted the commission, he still wouldn't have been allowed to speak because proclamations are not open for public comment in Fort Lauderdale, noted
