A Pennsylvania man, who is 61 years old and HIV-positive, is charged with raping a 6-year-old boy, recording the assault and live-streaming the footage online.
Ira S. Task, who admitted to police that he had been HIV-positive for more than two decades, was arrested after officials saw cellphone video of him and another man raping a 6-year-old boy, reports The Sentinel. Police later found out that the footage had also been given to the victim's family, according to Mad World News.
After viewing the video, police identified Task from a ring around his genitals, moles on his thigh and other jewelry. In the video, he is reportedly giving the boy an amyl nitrite inhalant, a prescription drug which induces a high.
In July, the Department of Homeland Security first notified Cumberland County law enforcement officials about the incident as they were involved with an ongoing exploitation investigation involving the rape of a child. The video was found on digital files belonging to William C. Byers-Augusta, which led him to be arrested for possessing child pornography. The child victim told the Children's Resource Center that Byers-Augusta violated him as well, reports NY Daily News.
Cumberland County District Attorney David Freed said this crime was one of the most depraved acts that has ever come through his office. "There are those in our society who will callously inflict evil on our most vulnerable, our children, to serve their own degenerate desires," Freed said in a press conference. His office is looking into further charges against Task due to his known HIV-positive diagnosis.
Task is employed at Hershey Lodge, which is near the family attraction, Hershey Park. He has been suspended pending the results of the investigation. Hershey Entertainment & Resorts performs background checks on all employees, the most recent of which was in July 2015. "Both criminal checks for Mr. Task came back clear," stated Kathleen McGraw, director of communications at Hershey Entertainment & Resorts.
Both men have are charged with child pornography, rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, and disseminating film or photos of a child sex act. Task is being held on a $1 million bond.
"Imagine what that little boy was going through, that's the worst part of the case," Freed said.
