Hillary Clinton To Be Interviewed By FBI Director

The murky scandal that has dogged the presidential campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton may be approaching its climax. Clinton will be interviewed by FBI Director James Comey.

Al Jazeera America reporter David Shuster disclosed the incendiary scoop that the FBI had completed its investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server during her service as Secretary of State, Mediaite reports.

The U.S. Justice Department is now collaborating with the FBI to review the gathered evidence and determine if any law(s) had been broken.

This final stage of the investigation “will include former State Department aides Philippe Reines, former Clinton Chief of Staff Cheryl Mills, and Clinton herself.”

Following the interviews, “officials expect Director Comey to make his recommendation to Attorney General Loretta Lynch about potential criminal charges.”

Shuster’s report concluded that Clinton’s interview with FBI could occur within days and that Comey’s recommendation can be delivered within weeks.

This projected timeline fits into the FBI’s reported desire to bring a conclusion to the investigation as soon possible, according to the Washington Post.

Clinton is the current front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination. If there is an indictment to be made, FBI officials hope to reach that conclusion before the convention instead of allowing it to hang in the air until November.

Dropping such a bombshell late in the election year could throw the democratic process into chaos. The Clinton campaign has signaled that they will be happy to comply with the investigation to bring a swift conclusion and, if cleared, put the controversy in the rearview mirror.

This has not stopped the investigation from being heavily politicized.

On Mar. 30, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump vowed to appoint U.S. Supreme Court justices who would further investigate Clinton’s use of a private server.

“Well I would probably appoint people that would look very seriously at her email disaster, because it’s a criminal activity ... What she’s getting away with is absolutely murder,” Trump told ABC News according to Talking Points Memo.

Whether or not Clinton broke a law has yet to be determined. All statements on the matter so far have been political speculation. However, this update means that soon, the public may have an actual answer.
