Shocking Helmet Camera Footage Shows Moment Of Impact In Fatal Motorcycle Accident (Video)

Shocking footage shows a man’s final moments as he speeds down a road on his motorcycle, and his mother wanted it to be released as a warning to others that safety on the road is extremely important.

David Holmes was 38 years old when he died from a head-on collision with a vehicle as he sped down a road in England on his motorcycle, and disturbingly, a GoPro helmet camera captured his final moments as well as the impact. Holmes was reportedly driving around 97 miles per hour when he collided with a driver who was making a right turn, and during an investigation, the driver said he couldn’t see the motorcycle coming when he went to make the turn.

Now, Holmes’ mother has agreed to release the footage of her son’s fatal crash as part of a driving safety video in the hopes that it would prevent something like this from happening to someone else.

“I want to be involved in this campaign because I feel something positive can come out of his loss,” said Brenda Holmes, according to The Telegraph. “If we can prevent one accident; one family going through what we have been through then David would not have died in vain. I know he rode fast that day, he loved speed but he also loved life. This hasn’t been an easy thing to do but I just hope that somebody benefits from the warning; that people slow down and take time to look for bikes. I’m not a perfect driver, I’ve done silly things sometimes and I’ve been lucky to get away with them, David wasn’t lucky, the driver wasn’t lucky.”

The Norfolk and Suffolk Broads Policing Unit’s Chief Inspector Chris Spinks said that although some may not agree with releasing the disturbing footage, he thinks there may be a chance for it to do some good.

“The video is shocking; however this is the reality of fatal collisions,” said Spinks. “The emotions people may experience after seeing this video can only touch the surface of those feelings that families and friends go through when losing a loved one in this way.”
