A Florida police officer said he was moved to tears when a little boy offered to pay for his breakfast while dining at a restaurant in Broward County.
Deputy Jackson said he was ordering breakfast when the little boy approached him, Fox 29 reported. He shared the story on a Facebook post and it quickly went viral.
“I walked into this restaurant to get breakfast before heading to work my detail. As I enter, all eyes are fixed on me. I could only imagine what was going through the minds of the people inside the restaurant with all the negativity surrounding law enforcement officials. Nonetheless, I proceed to the cash register and placed my order. No sooner than my total flashed across the screen, this little kid said 'I'm gonna pay for his,,, (breakfast). Shocked and flattered. I declined and his parents insisted saying, when you walked into the door, he insisted on buying your breakfast because he appreciates the thankless job you do!
"It's a good thing I had on my Oakley's because I really teared up. In closing, I really appreciated this kind act by this kid and the fine qualities being instilled in him by his parents!”
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office re-posted the story on their Facebook page. Several users commended the boy for his actions and saluted his parents.
“Love this! Much respect to both the parents for teaching this young boy how to grow into a fine young man, and to Deputy Jackson, stay safe,” wrote one user. “I give all law enforcement and military much respect that they rightfully deserve!
“There are always a few bad 'seeds'...but that never defines enforcement as a whole no more than having 1 child of 6 in a family who happens to fall into drugs making the entire family defined as the same.”
“It's a shame that a few can ruin everything for the organization,” wrote another user. “I was always taught to respect the law and honestly, The times I did get into some sort of trouble, I mostly deserved it.
“Total respect for the kid, his parents and of course the officer who was the recipient of this kind gesture.”
