An unidentified man died in Fort Wayne, Ind. on Saturday while selling his gun to a relative.
According to RawStory.com, the gun owner accidentally shot himself in the chest (video below).
At about 8 p.m., police arrived on the scene and tried to save the man's life, but he was pronounced dead.
“Always treat the gun as if it’s loaded," Fort Wayne Police Department spokesman Chris Felton told WANE. "Even if you’re sure it’s unloaded, still treat it as if its loaded. Never point a gun at anything or anyone you’re not willing to destroy. Treat it as loaded all the time."
Another accidental shooting recently occurred in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Last week, an unidentified man accidentally shot himself in the leg with his Glock 17 handgun after leaving a gun safety class.
According to the Palm Beach Post, police said the man was found in his pickup truck suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.
The man said that he was "manipulating" the gun when it suddenly went off.
The man did survive after being taken to a local hospital.
