Gun Dealer Shoots Woman While Teaching Her Concealed Carry Safety

Krysta Gearhart was accidentally shot in the leg by gun dealer Geoffrey Hawk during the Eagle Arms Gun Show at the Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, Fairgrounds on Saturday.

Hawk, owner of the “In Case of Emergency” gun store, was showing Gearhart a concealed carry holster when his semi-automatic .380 fired.

“Often times [a plastic gun] is what is utilized [during a demonstration]," Bloomsburg Police Sgt. Leonard Rogutski told WNEP. "This time the vendor used a real gun.”

While there wasn't a magazine attached to the handgun, there was a bullet in the chamber, notes

“Everybody paused for a second, and their initial reaction was making sure there wasn’t more, and then they rushed to her aid,” said witness Eric Bower. “I think the dealers were upset because it makes them look bad."

Outside the gun show was a sign that read: “Loaded weapons are not allowed.”

Fortunately, some off-duty first-responders were at the gun show and provided medical care until an ambulance arrived.
