Phyllis Law, 63, was sitting in her living room Friday night when two intruders broke in. She decided to fight back with a 9mm handgun.
Law and her granddaughter were relaxing when the two intruders, who had broken into her home once before, entered the house.
“Next thing I know, he hit the lights and put all the lights on and I’m saying to myself, ‘This person been here before to know where all my lights at,’” Law said.
Law ushered her granddaughter into a closet, then ran upstairs to grab her 9mm pistol and an extra clip.
Law recalled that the man was simply strolling through her house when she saw his blue jogging pants and started shooting.
“I jumped and just start shooting,” Law said. “I have no idea where I hit him. He fell right there on the floor there.”
Law fired three shots and hit the man in the head. When he tried to escape, Law fired a fourth shot, which the man was later treated for.
Though the second intruder escaped, he was eventually caught and arrested.
Law noted that she doesn’t regret her decision and believes that the robbers would have killed her and her granddaughter had she given them the chance.
Law now keeps a loaded shotgun on her kitchen counter in case her home is ever broken into again.
