Inga Evans, a 73-year-old grandmother, was robbed and beaten in broad daylight in front of witnesses outside a Walmart store in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday.
“This woman comes up and she said, 'I want your purse,' and I said, ‘No!’” Evans told CW33.com. “She kept hitting me with both fists and worked me over pretty good until she knocked me down, and as she knocked me down on the concrete, I let go of the purse.”
The assault was captured on surveillance video (below), but none of the witnesses bothered to help Evans. Instead, people recorded the assault on their cell phones.
“Nobody helped,” Evans stated. “They all just had their cell phones going. Just shooting. What goes around comes around, and one of these days they’re going to know what it feels like.”
On Saturday, police arrested two teens in connection with the crime.
A 15-year-old girl, whose name was not released because of her age, and Bobby Wilson, 17, were charged with aggravated robbery.
“I was shocked that it was such a young girl [that would] do this, I was just shocked, I was blown away,” Evans’ son Bill told MyFoxDFW.com.
However, Evans still has not forgotten the bystanders who did nothing to help her.
“To the people who were watching this and stood there with their cell phones in hand, the next time it may be you that’s getting knocked on the ground, and then what will you do,” Evans stated.
