San Diego, California, police are searching for a man who attempted to abduct a grandmother and her grandson from a Walmart parking lot on Wednesday. The grandmother was able to fight the man off after he approached her from behind.
The attack happened shortly before noon on Wednesday morning as the woman was packing groceries into her car. The attacker approached her from behind and tried to cover her mouth with his hand, FOX5 reported.
According to UT San Diego, he then put his other arm around her neck and tried to drag her away.
The attacker fled the scene when the woman fought back. He was last seen running under an overpass of Route 94.
Police are searching for the man, described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and in his late thirties. He has a dark complexion and tattoos on his arms, neck and upper chest.
The woman was not seriously hurt and her 3-year-old grandson was unharmed.
Officials are currently reviewing surveillance camera footage to see if the man was dropped off in a car before the attack.
The woman’s daughter was relieved she was able to fight off the attacker, selling UT San Diego: “Of course, as a grandma, she fought back. I just want (the police) to catch him. Whoever he is.”
