Mother's Gift To Teacher Captures Hearts (Video)

Many are applauding a Louisiana mother after she raised money to buy her daughter's day care teacher a car on April 28.

The mother, Brittney Nichols, said she started wondering why she always saw the teacher, Christy Owens, walking everywhere she went, in all types of weather, sometimes with a Bible in hand, KSLA reports.

When she found out her 2-year-old daughter’s teacher did not have a license or a car and could not afford either, she was moved to take action.

"Every single morning when I drop my daughter off Christy is full of joy," Nichols explained. "Christy is always so amazingly happy and kind. She treats the children as if they are her own. They all love her as do we the parents. I witnessed Christy walking one Sunday in a her Sunday dress with her Bible tucked under her arm. I felt like God spoke within me to inquire about her transportation.”

So, with the help of co-workers and strangers, Nichols raised enough to buy Owens a pre-owned Chevy Cavalier and to get her insurance and pay for driving lessons.

“For me, I’m just serving my purpose,” Nichols said. “And my purpose is to impact somebody.”

“She is an amazing woman and she surely deserved this. Be a light in this dark world yall. We can't save it but we can do our part to change it,” Nichols later wrote on Facebook.

Video of Owens receiving her gift has since been posted on Facebook and has gone viral, with more than 1.7 million views in five days.

“When I shared this video last week never in a million years did I ever expect what is occurring right now. I never expected it to go viral. People do kind things for one another every day and some may feel it goes unnoticed but it doesn't. Part of me was scared and nervous but after reading some of the kind messages and comments about how this is touching others and inspiring them to do better and live better my worry and fears have subsided,” Nichols wrote.
