Girl Rejected From University Of South Carolina And Invited To Prom In Same Letter

A high school senior asked his girlfriend to prom in an unusual way by writing a very convincing fake letter from the University of South Carolina, rescinding her college acceptance.

Caitlyn Metzker recently gained admission to the university, but a second letter, penned by her boyfriend Dylan, was sent telling her that she had instead been rejected by the school, the New York Daily News reported.

"Unfortunately, it is clear that your grades are not what they were when we accepted you," the official-looking message, on what appeared to be a USC letterhead, read.

The letter goes on to explain that because Metzker slacked off during her senior year the school ultimately decided to defer her admission.

The note adds, “It saddens us to say that your admission is in jeopardy, and we may have to pull our admission from you due to poor school ethic and attendance.”

But the last paragraph revealed the prank, according to WYFF4.

"If you were to agree to go to prom with your boyfriend we could reconsider letting you continue to be a South Carolina Gamecock. So what do you say, will you go to prom with me?" it read.

Dylan added in a post script, “Sorry if I scared you, hopefully you still like me and said yes to prom.”

Metzker tweeted the prom-posal shortly after, with the caption:

Oh my god Dylan. Thank you for the heart attack

The image went viral, being retweeted and favorited thousands of times.

A photo shared by the two proved that Dylan’s effort paid off and Metzker seemed pretty pleased as they enjoyed their big night together.
