A 9-year-old girl accidentally shot and killed a shooting instructor at an outdoor gun range in Dolan Springs, Arizona, on Monday.
The Bullets and Burgers range is situated off U.S. Highway 93 between the Grand Canyon Skywalk and Las Vegas, making it a popular tourist stop.
The girl stood next to the shooting instructor while firing an automatic 9mm Uzi machine gun over her head.
According to Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Trish Carter, the machine gun recoiled as the girl fired it and a bullet hit gun instructor Charles Vacca in the head, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.
The young girl's parents were present during the shooting, noted the Associated Press.
Vacca died Monday night at a hospital in Las Vegas.
