Girl, 13, Suspected Of Shooting Elderly Couple

An unidentified 13-year-old girl turned herself into police on July 20 after being suspected of shooting an elderly couple who were working in a beauty supply store in Bellefontaine Neighbors, Missouri, on July 19.

The girl and another unidentified young girl allegedly stole some goods from Kings Beauty Supply earlier in the day on July 19. The 70-something couple got the items back and did not report the juveniles, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch notes.

The older couple told the juveniles not to come in the store again, but the girls reportedly returned, and the police were called.

The cops placed one of the girls in custody for an outstanding juvenile warrant, and let the other girl go with a warning for trespassing, after the couple approved, notes KMOV.

The girl, who was released by the cops, came back to the store, allegedly shot the couple and robbed the store.

Police Detective Lt. Shawn Applegate said a witness saw the girl go into the store and "then less than a minute later came running out, swinging in her right hand a revolver as she ran," notes the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Police released a grainy frame (above) from a surveillance video, which was tweeted by STL Crimestoppers with the caption: "person of interest."

The girl was subsequently taken to a police station by her father and three aunts.

The girl has not been charged with any crime, and the gun has not been recovered.

Joo Lim, a friend of the couple, who are in critical condition in a local hospital, started a GoFundMe page that states:

They are the sweetest people I know and they are currently in the ICU with life-threatening injuries.

One of the victims has yet to go under several more surgeries and doctors are unsure if he will make it through.

The family will not be able to open their beauty supply store up for a while; therefore, the family is in need of financial support as well as help with medical bills.
