Group Searches For Ghosts In Abandoned Hospital -- But Finds Something Much More Grisly (Video)

A group of Mississippi ghost hunters were shocked when they discovered a body inside an abandoned building on Sunday.

The group was exploring Kuhn Memorial State Hospital in Vicksburg, Mississippi, which was featured in a 2014 episode of “Ghost Asylum" (video below). The hospital has been vacant for over two decades.

According to police reports, the group stumbled upon the body of a white female in her late 60s. She had trauma to her head and body.

"You could tell where they had dragged someone down from the second floor in the middle of the building, to a grassy area on the left side of the hospital," David Childers, co-founder of the Mississippi Paranormal Research Institute, told The Clarion Ledger. "On the steps, that's where most of the blood was, and it looked like they dragged her all the way to the grassy area."

After reporting the body to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, it was brought to Jackson, Mississippi, to be processed, The Clarion Ledger reports.

The woman has yet to be identified, though police suspect she is a 69-year-old woman who was reported missing on Saturday after her car was found abandoned. Police noted that the woman’s home showed signs of a disturbance.

Although two men were arrested in connection to the event, police have not yet pressed charges.

One man reportedly admitted to robbing the woman and kidnapping her, but said they dropped her on the side of the road afterwards.

“The gentleman that we had with us that had been arrested in Leland was to show us where he had let the lady out of the vehicle, but that never panned out,” Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong said. “We don’t believe that he was being truthful, we believe he was lying the whole time and only came back to Vicksburg when we heard that a body had been found.”

Childers noted that Kuhn Hospital attracts unsavory people and crimes such as this one, and that the hospital should simply be condemned.
