French President Francois Hollande just announced that the EgyptAir flight which went missing today had in fact crashed over the Mediterranean Sea.
Speaking at a press conference in the Elysee Palace in Paris, France, President Hollande said that the flight had definitely crashed – but it was too early to speculate on the cause.
"When we have the truth we need to draw all the conclusions," Hollande he insisted. "At this stage, we must give priority to solidarity toward the families" of the victims.
EgyptAir flight 804 had 66 people on it – 56 of whom were passengers. Two infants and one child were on the flight.
