A Super Bowl commercial by Daniel Defense, a gun manufacturer, has been turned down by Fox Television due to the National Football League’s gun policy.
In the commercial (video below), a father returns home to his family after serving in the U.S. military and states in a voiceover that “no one has the right to tell me how to defend them.”
While the ad does not feature a gun, Daniel Defense's logo includes an image of a gun at the end of the commercial.
According to Guns & Ammo, Fox said the commercial violates the NFL’s ban on ads featuring “firearms, ammunition or other weapons."
However, Guns & Ammo claims that Daniel Defense's ad meets the NFL's requirements because it does not feature a gun.
Daniel Defense has offered to replace its gun logo with the American flag and/or the words “Shall not be infringed.”
Besides guns, Daniel Defense sells clothing, which Guns & Ammo says would also qualify the commercial.
