Fox News Host Megyn Kelly Tells Kids: Jesus And Santa Are Both White (Video)

Fox News host Megyn Kelly reassured children watching “The Kelly File” on Wednesday that both Santa Claus and Jesus Christ are white, no matter what says.

Kelly argued against an editorial written by an African American blogger for Slate, Aisha Harris, in which she argued that St. Nick could use a makeover to represent “all the children he delights each Christmas.”

Kelly said when she saw the op-ed titled “Santa Claus Should Not Be a White Man Anymore” she laughed.

“Oh this is so ridiculous,” she said, “Yet another person claiming it's racist to have a white Santa. You know?”

“And by the way, for all you kids watching at home, Santa just is white,” she added, “but this person is just arguing that maybe we should also have a black Santa.”

Harris writes that she grew up with two Santas. The Santa Claus she saw in ads and department stores, all white. And the Santa she saw at home on Christmas cards and decorations, who was black, like her family. She writes about what it felt like to be disappointed and “slightly ashamed that our black Santa wasn’t the ‘real thing.’”

“But just because it makes you feel uncomfortable,” Kelly said Wednesday, “doesn’t mean it has to change. Jesus was a white man, too.”

Salon published a piece in March criticizing “The Bible” miniseries for casting a white Jesus. A Jew of Mediterranean descent 2,000 years ago would have had a “medium, if not dark, complexion," argued Chauncey Devega.
