Criminal charges have been filed against a former Detroit school teacher accused of having sex with a 15-year-old student in her classroom. Kathryn Ronk, 29, is facing five counts of first-degree criminal sexual misconduct.
Police allege Ronk and the student had multiple sexual encounters in her classroom at Bishop Foley High School. Ronk was fired in May after the student’s parents went to administrators at the Catholic school and accused her of sexual misconduct.
Police opened an investigation shortly after the complaint was filed, but Ronk made investigators' lives easy yesterday when she turned herself in. She was charged and posted a $50,000 bond before being released. She is required to wear a GPS tracking bracelet until her July 9 hearing.
If convicted on all five charges, Ronk may spend the rest of her life in prison.
