Two Utah men were removed from their Boy Scout leadership positions after they were caught on video toppling an ancient rock formation.
Glenn Taylor and David Hall could be seen in a YouTube video pushing over a formation at the Goblin Valley State Park in Utah. The two cheered as the rock toppled.
The men originally claimed that the rock could have fallen and hit a visitor, but later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges for purposefully pushing the formation.
Both have now been sentenced to a year of probation and ordered to pay an unspecified amount in fines and restitution.
The money will be used to put signs in the park warning others against damaging formations.
State prosecutors are still trying to put a price on the 170 million year old formation, which park officials argue has been standing for much of human history.
