Forbes Names Obama Most Powerful Person in the World

He's already a Nobel Peace Prize winner, a best-selling author, and oh yeah, the President of the United States. Now Barack Obama has another accolade -- Most Powerful Person on Earth, at least according to Forbes magazine.

Forbes has come out with it's first World's Most Powerful People rankings, and it has the President on top. The magazine says it was "unanimous," and by a "wide margin."

There are 67 people on the list. Why 67? "A number based on the conceit that one can reduce the world's 6.7 billion people to the one in every 100 million that matter," said the magazine.

Here's the top 10:

1--U.S. President Barack Obama
2--Chinese President Hu Jintao
3--Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin
4--U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke
5--Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page
6--Carlos Slim, Chief Executive of Mexico's Telmex
7--Rupert Murdoch, chairman of media group News Corp.
8--Michael T. Duke, Chief executive, Wal-Mart Stores
9--Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah binAbdul Aziz
10--Bill Gates, co-chairman, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Both Clintons made the list -- Secretary of State Hillary at 17, former President Bill at 31. Former President George W. Bush was nowhere to be found. Oprah Winfrey was, at 45, and Osama bin Laden clocked in at 37.

The magazine used four dimensions to define power:

-- Does the person have influence over lots of other people?
-- Assessing the financial resources controlled by these individuals.
-- Are they powerful in multiple spheres?
-- Do they actively use their power?

Given the criteria, do you think Forbes got it right? Is Obama the most powerful person in the world? And what about the rest of the top 10? Even the magazine admits the list if not definitive:

This ranking is intended to be the beginning of a conversation, not the final word. Is the Dalai Lama (No. 39) really more powerful than the president of France (No. 56)? Do despicable criminals like billionaire Mexican drug lord Joaquín Guzmán (No. 41) belong on this list at all? Who did we overlook? What did we get wrong?
