A Florida woman allegedly flashed a badge and pointed a gun at a man amid a road rage encounter on State Road 436.
Police later tracked down 29-year-old Lacy Phelps and arrested her. Investigators said they discovered a loaded gun in the Casselberry woman's possession.
She had a pink and silver .38 revolver and allegedly attempted to convince the victim that she was law enforcement, WESH reported.
“I don’t even want to pull up near her,” the victim said in a 911 call Wednesday evening.
“She looks like she’s going through emotional problems. There’s traffic everywhere,” said the driver. “I didn’t do anything to her. She cut me off.”
According to police documents, after the victim honked his horn at Phelps she pointed her revolver at him.
“Looks like she was flipping out,” the man said. “She pulled out a gun, what looks like a .44 or a .38 and showed it to me.”
When she showed the victim her "badge" he was convinced she was police.
“She just showed me her badge,” he told the 911 operator. “She’s an officer!”
The badge turned out to be her concealed weapons license.
Phelps was tracked down by her license plate number and car description.
She was charged with aggravated assault and fraudulent use of a badge, a first-degree misdemeanor.
She is free on $5,500 bond.
An Orlando man shot himself earlier this year while displaying his gun in a road rage incident on Interstate 4. The man told police he pulled out his gun because the other driver had threatened to shoot him, My News 13 reported.
