Florida Teen Dies Playing Russian Roulette With 15-Year-Old Friend

A 13-year-old boy has died after playing a game of Russian roulette with a 15-year-old friend outside a home in Florida City, Florida, Sunday night.

Darin Booker, who was a seventh-grader at Redland Middle School, was reportedly shot in the chest by his older friend, who had pulled the trigger of the gun three times, emptying it of all but one bullet, reports the Daily Mail.

A group of about five teens were hanging around the outside of the home, looking at and handling the gun, when the tragedy took place, according to police.

Witness Ashley Kendall told WSVN the kids were playing with the gun. “They was just trying to see like the parts of it,” Kendall said. “He was trying to take the bullets out but he left one in. And he pointed it at him and shot it, nothing happened. Shot it again, nothing happened. The third time, Book got shot in the chest.”

Another witness says everything happened so quickly after the boy pulled the trigger.

“My cousin who came in the house, they was like, ‘Oh, somebody’s shot, somebody’s shot,’ and he told his mama and we came outside,” said one of the victim’s friends. “I guess by the time we came outside, Darin, he hit the gate and he fell and he kind of like was taking his last breath.”

Darin was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save him.

Neighbors are calling for change after the deadly incident. “It’s just sad, just sad that happened in our community and you know we as parents need to get together and rally and try to save our youth,” said one parent.

Police are still investigating and no arrests have been made at this point. Darin's family members say they suspect the incident was not an accident, reports NBC Miami

"Two times he shot the gun, nothing happened, second time he shot, nothing happened, third time my grandson was shot in the chest and he died there," said Helen Booker, the victim's grandmother. "So no one was arrested? So you call that an accident?"
