Florida Teen Allegedly Brutally Beaten By Israeli Police In Jerusalem (Video)

A 15-year-old boy from Florida who is the cousin of the Palestinian teen who was kidnapped and burned to death in Israel this week, was allegedly beaten and detained by Israeli border police.

The assault of Tariq Khdeir of Tampa was caught on camera. He was attending a demonstration following the death of his cousin, 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khdeir.

Mohammed was abducted after leaving his father’s shop early Wednesday and was later found burned to death in a forest. An autopsy reportedly found the teen had been set on fire while he was still alive.

The beating allegedly took place Thursday outside his cousin’s home. Khdeir was handcuffed, punched and kicked while he laid on the ground.

"You can see video of them really stomping on his face," said Hassan Shibly, executive director with Council on American–Islamic Relations in Florida.

"He was at a protest … this Israeli soldier cracked down on the protest and started picking people up (and) he was one of the people that they attacked," Shibly said.

CAIR released graphic pictures of Khdeir, his face bruised and swollen.

The group says Khdeir is being held under police guard at Jerusalem's Hadassah Hospital.

"We're calling on the state department to do everything within its power to make sure that this American kid is released as soon as possible,” CAIR says.

Khdeir is scheduled to appear before a judge in Jerusalem on Sunday, Ma'an news agency reported.
