Florida police officers made headlines over the weekend after rescuing nine ducklings that had lost their way.
Lakeland Sergeant Henry and Officers Gomez and Mackey rescued the ducklings after they trapped themselves in a storm drain at the corner of Louise Place and Lake Morton Drive. Unwilling to let the birds suffer, the department took action.
“It’s the little things that keep you going,” Clearwater Police Officer Christian Zarra said.
On Saturday, the police department reported on its Facebook page that the ducklings were all safe.
In January, Tampa Bay officers pitched in to rescue a kitten trapped in a dangerous drain downtown. In early March, a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputy rescued a calf that had gotten itself stuck in the mud.
