Kanye West's personal physician claims that the rapper threatened to assault the first responders who arrived after a 911 call.
TMZ reports that the physician is the one who dialed 911 and warned the dispatcher that West was not currently violent, but that he would become violent when police arrived to help.
According to law enforcement sources, the call arrived from Dr. Michael Farzam about a male with a mental illness, described as “Jim Jones, 39 years old, 5’8”, 175 lbs … suffers from temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.”
The police report states that Farzam had placed West on a psychiatric hold until he could be taken to UCLA Medical Center for further evaluation. The report also states that Farzam told police West had attempted to assault a staff member at the gym.
West was reportedly handcuffed to a stretcher as he was taken into the ambulance, which is reportedly standard protocol when a patient is on a psychiatric hold.
According to the Los Angeles reality realty TV star Kris Jenner, who is West’s mother-in-law, told Vanity Fair that West as “exhausted” but doing “good.”
This incident comes on the heels of several canceled concert appearances by West, after he was booed off the stage for a near-hour long rant in support of President-elect Donald Trump.
West also ranted about friends and acquaintances such as Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
“I’ve been sent here to give y’all my truth, even at the risk of my own life,” West said at one of his concerts. “At the risk of my own success. I’ll give y’all the truth. Jay-Z, call me, you still ain’t called me … Jay-Z, I know you got killers. Please don’t send them at my head. Just call me. Talk to me like a man.”
West also indicated that he is considering a run for president in 2020. We’ll have to wait and see if this current episode will hurt his election chances.
